You are told not to judge a book by its cover so I am kindly asking the same for the title of this post. Yes, we are all enticed by catchy titles, relevant topics and perfected photographs, however you don’t have to be getting married to potentially fall in love with BHS’ Wedding collection. I for one love pretty lingerie and costume jewellery, however my budget doesn’t tend to stretch much further than sales and Primark. This is where BHS comes in; they are perfect for economical wedding dresses under £100, jewellery under £5 and inexpensive memory foam shoes.
Not everyone has a never-ending pot of money to borrow, save or spend on an extravagant wedding and when you can pick up all the lingerie, shoes and jewellery for under £80 I am impressed. On my wedding day I will more than likely be wearing heels as I am very short, despite dresses being able to be altered I just feel more glamorous in them. However some people’s preferences are flats, and I for one know that I will want to change part way through the day- no-one wants cut, sore, throbbing feet on their big day. Just because you want to opt for flats doesn’t mean that you should settle for something frumpy or less desirable than heels, and thanks to BHS I have found the most comfy yet stylish pair of lace flats with memory foam insoles.
Despite being from the Wedding Collection I will actually be wearing these pumps through Spring and Summer. They are delicate, pretty flats that are the comfiest pair of shoes I have owned, definitely what my feet need after a run.
All the jewellery I picked up was £5 and under yet the quality far exceeded the price tag. My personal favourites are the simple yet stunning earrings and the three row ring, and you can see why for yourself.
Pearl Tube Stretch Bracelet £5/Crystal Three Row Ring £5/ Silver Rhinestone Mini Earrings £4/ Necklace Out of stock £4
Your dress choice will affect what jewellery you want to wear, at least it will for me. Despite picking up a bracelet, necklace, earrings and a ring, I wouldn’t wear them all at once. Some people have evening changes and that’s where I think the necklace is perfect for, at £4 it’s a piece that really can be worn as costume jewellery and just once if need be (although I personally think it’s very versatile). The earrings on the other hand are delicate and would look perfect with hair up; I have absolutely fallen in love with them. The three row ring is a stunning, sparkly piece and if you have quite a plain silver ring like me then it will look nice as an accessory, whilst the pearl bracelet is a classic piece that won’t become dated.
The Lingerie has to be the most impressive of the BHS Wedding Collection, and is something that I will wear any-time of year. The little details are what makes the set so special, whilst the sizing is perfect. When I ordered the bra I was a little apprehensive about the fit, I have bought underwear in Marks and Spencers, Ann Summers and Primark (all varying costs and shops) but never seem to find the perfect fit. However you will see for yourself that the sizing is spot on, exactly what you want and need on your wedding day. I also think the set is a gorgeous gift or treat for Valentines and birthday’s.
My favourite details on the set are the tear drops and lace detailing. I wore white hold ups with mine, however if you pop onto the BHS site you can see that nude tights look perfect for the set and more appropriate underneath your dress.
To compliment the pieces I thought that my Ciate Caviar Kit in ‘Mother of Pearl’ was the perfect combination. Not to mention the set being £5.40 instead of £18.00 here, whilst the hold ups were from Ann Summers but they aren’t on the site anymore. However BHS have three pairs of soft shine for £4.50 here, which is an absolute bargain ( I might have to nab them myself)!
