Bella Chique MyHigh.St Dress

High street stores are great for the latest trends and cheap, accessible Fashion, but for me there is nothing like supporting an independent Fashion retailer. I love shopping for unique pieces, which I have touched upon in previous posts on my blog, as well as supporting the indie shopping market. With the unreliable weather we are having at the moment I don’t know whether to step out in shorts or a full blown ski suit, so when it comes to dresses the midi variety are my favourite. There is also something timeless and unbeatable about tartan in Autumn, and I look forward to wearing it throughout the whole year- surprisingly enough that’s why a tartan midi dress is a real winner with me.

Gone are the days I was adamant to pair any dress with a pair of heels or ballet pumps, I am now much happier styling an outfit with trainers/plimpsolls to add a Sports edge to an otherwise feminine outfit. Living on the seaside, practicality has to sway my Fashion choices, and I actually think my red vans work well with this strappy midi dress.

I love how this dress can be styled up for an evening wear piece with high heels, a leather jacket and red lippy, but can also be casual, everyday outfit with ease. I love the blue inclusion in the tartan pattern too, it takes away the edge of the traditional red, black and white designs that can be too OTT for some (including myself), this feels like a fresh, modern take on a timeless, recycled trend.

Layering is imperative for Autumnal beach walks so I decided to wrap up with my Hidden Fashion Sheepskin denim jacket which was a bargain at £5, and accessorised with Debenhams rings which I picked up in the sale a while back (sorry they’re gone 😦 ) My graduated layered necklaces are Regal Rose all to match my bright red varnish which was a must have to sit with the vans and the red in the dress.

If a midi dress isn’t for you then Bella Chique  have a similar tartan pattern in a swing dress  which would look amazing layered with a faux fur gilet, some fishnet tights and ankle boots (I feel like I should snap it up already!) Their pieces are definitely worth a look on MyHigh.St if you want to find something a little bit different to high street stores and still be able to keep within a budget. I know I will be wearing this dress in all weather and I already have more styling ideas set up for this baby.

  2. I really try to support the indie stores more too- but sometimes i crack under the siren song of Zara or Topshop 😉 And I REALLY like the idea of pairing flirtier dresses with trainers or sporty shoes. The contrast is really fun and playful.
